For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. (1 Thessalonians 5:2-4)
The day of the Lord is the second coming of the Lord with His church to the earth. It will take the world by total surprise because the whole world lies in darkness and is unaware that God has a plan to establish His kingdom upon the earth. We are not in darkness so we should be fully aware of the things that are about to unfold on the earth.
Leaders of nations have been talking about a ‘road map to peace’ that requires Israel to divide up the land for the sake of peace. Keep your eyes on the controversy surrounding who controls the city of Jerusalem and the so called West Bank. Dividing up Israel will unleash a time of trouble the world has never seen. Joel prophesied, ‘I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.’
The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is the world’s only hope for a lasting peace. Jesus is the answer for the world today. He has given us a ministry of reconciliation to preach good news! Peace between God and man through His Son Jesus Christ!
