Reigning as Kings

I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.—Revelation 20:4

A kingdom Age is coming where the saints of all ages including the great harvest of the tribulation hour will reign with Christ for 1000 years. Satan will be imprisoned in the bottomless pit and there will be peace on earth because Jesus the prince of peace will rule the Nations. At the close of this 1000 year reign of peace and prosperity, Satan will be loosed to tempt the Nations once more. What is amazing to me is there will be many who have enjoyed the peace and prosperity of the kingdom age who will not want anything to do with the righteousness of The Lord Jesus Christ. They will despise God’s ways and want to overthrow His rule of righteousness but fail. Where have we seen this scenario before? In the Garden of Eden, in the life of Israel when it enjoyed the peace and prosperity of God, and of course I’ve seen it in people’s lives when they come into a time of prosperity the forget about The Lord. It’s human nature. Why would God allow Satan to be released? In His fairness to previous generations all must be given the choice—life or death. That choice began in the Garden of Eden. That choice was given to Israel when they were about to enter the promised land.

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”—Deuteronomy 30:19-20

So too the choice will be given to those who have lived during the millennium. Multitudes will spurn the Lord’s goodness and choose death over life. It’s hard to fathom but that is what John the Apostle saw. There are more insights into the Kingdom Age given to us by the prophet Isaiah. In fact all the prophets looked forward to a Kingdom Age where Messiah would rule. When you study their prophecies concerning Messiah you see in hindsight that they referred to Messiah as coming twice—first to suffer and die as a servant and second to rule and reign in his glory. I am so glad I made the choice to accept Jesus as my lord and Savior! He has a place reserved for all who believe, in His Kingdom. We will return with Christ and rule with Him in our new glorified, flesh and bone bodies on the earth from Jerusalem! We shall reign with Christ because of what He accomplished on the cross!

Because of one man’s trespass death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive God’s overflowing grace and the free gift of righteousness putting them into right standing with Himself reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ.—Romans 5:17 AMP

We reign as Kings both in this life and in the resurrection to come! Amen!
