Do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.–2 Peter 3:7-9
It is apparent when studying the history of God’s dealings with man in the Bible that God has determined 6 days or 6000 years for man to fulfill the command of Genesis (be fruitful and multiply) and the 7th day to be a day of rest. There is coming a 7th day a millennial rest for mankind where the Lord Himself will rule the Nations from Jerusalem. That day of rest is a day of peace and prosperity.
God’s passion is for men to come to repentance and recognize the saving work of Jesus Christ. We are living in a time where God is pouring out His Spirit upon the earth. With an estimated half a billion people who have experienced Pentecost across the globe it is a sure sign that the day of the Lord is drawing near.
We live in a time of great grace! We are graced to live in these last days! We should live our lives soberly as we see on the horizon the dark clouds of the coming tribulation hour that Jesus spoke of at the close of His ministry. The time is short so do everything you can to fulfill God’s will–be a witness of His love, be a pillar in the local church, and support world missions!
