Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.—James 4:7-8,10
We live in an a season of grace where God is forgiving, healing and restoring lives. Thank God for the good news of God’s love through His Son Jesus Christ. However for God’s grace to be effective in our lives we have to submit, draw near and humble ourselves under His mighty hand.
Remember your mom telling you, “Wash your hands before you come to the dinner table!” The Psalmist declares God has prepared a table for us in the presence of our enemies—a table of provision for every aspect of our lives. How should we come to the table? With clean hands and pure hearts. For God’s grace to work in our lives we have to keep it clean and keep it right. By drawing close to Him every day He will always help us keep our thoughts and attitudes right so His grace can glow freely.
The power to resist the devil comes by submitting to God because there comes a fresh anointing on you. The devil is no match for the anointing. He has been defeated by the Anointed one, our Jesus, and when you make a conscious effort to yield and submit to God there will be a fresh anointing on you that will cause the devil and any other ungodly influence to flee from your presence!
