Solid food #yearintheword

Everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.—Hebrews 5:13-14

We are to train ourselves in the Word so that we emulate Jesus Christ and the Father’s heart. We are to desire the sincere milk of God’s Word as new born babes the scripture says but we should move on and go deeper. I think many Christians skim the surface when it comes to the revelation of God’s Word in their life. We are to be skilled in the Word which means we should be able to apply it in our lives so that we can experience victory, answered prayer, and God’s blessing in our lives.

I consider the Epistles of the Apostle Paul to be solid food necessary for every believer to walk in the abundant life Jesus promised. Even the Apostle Peter mentioned in his letters that the Apostle Paul’s letters were hard for some to understand because they required spiritual discernment. In other words you have to be drinking milk first. The milk of God’s Word is the foundation of faith in God and repentance. So in order to gain understanding of the revelation God gave to Paul your heart has to be turned to The Lord.

I remember first reading the New Testament and there were a lot of things that went right over my head. But I just kept reading my Bible and it has always amazed me how the Spirit of God would bring something to my attention about a scripture after I had read it several times. Make reading your New Testament a life comittment, you will grow in understanding. It is the key to you fulfilling God’s call in your life. You will always find something fresh if you approach it prayerfully. It is absolutely necessary for your spiritual growth and development.
