He is able! #yearintheword

For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.—2 Timothy 1:12-14

God is perfecting those things that concern us when we put our trust in Him each and every day. No matter what challenges came to the Apostle Paul He was persuaded that God’s plan and purpose would still be realized in his life. There is a day approaching where we will stand before The Lord Jesus Christ to be rewarded for walking out His plan.

Two things in this text that are key for us to fulfilling His plan and receiving an abundant reward at the end of our race. The first is holding fast the pattern of sound words, in other words there is a pattern or template to good solid Bible teaching: it always magnifies Jesus and it always builds faith in the heart of the believer. If it does not do that then it will not equip you to fulfill your call.

Secondly, we are to keep that “good thing” by the Holy Spirit that has been committed to us. Paul is referring to the gift God placed in Timothy’s life earlier in this chapter. Everyone one of us have been anointed by the Holy Spirit and entrusted with spiritual endowments, grace gifts. They are listed in Romans 12:3-8. To keep by the Holy Spirit means to nurture your gift by yielding and following the Holy Spirit in your life who is there to help you! He is able to perfect you so that you may fulfill god’s plan and receive eternal rewards.
