For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.—1 Corinthians 3:11-13
The day is coming when we all will stand before the judgement seat of Christ to receive reward for the things we have done for Christ. If there is any truth that should motivate us to live for Christ it’s this one—the judgement seat of Christ. All of our works will go through the fire and what is left will be rewarded. Some believers will have no rewards whatsoever.
Live with eternity in mind! Why do you do what you do when you do it? What’s your motivation? Is it based upon the will of God? Is it spawned out of a passion to please The Lord? Is it in line with God’s Word? Does it bring blessing into the lives of others? Think about it. The development of Christ like character has eternal rewards. Sharing your passion for Christ with others has eternal reward as well.
Check your heart and be sure that your motivation and desires are Christ centered. Everything you do from that vantage point represents the golf, silver, and precious stones that are impervious to fire. You are guaranteed a rich reward from The Lord!
