Stay Awake

Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light. See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Ephesians 5:14-20 NKJV)

Christians who are asleep spiritually are in the dark and are unawares to what the Spirit is saying to them. Prayerlessness will cost you dearly. Praying is like turning the lights on in the middle of the night. I’ve stubbed my toes on a number of occasions and it hurts. Worse yet is stumbling around in life making bad decisions because we did not turn the lights on. When you pray you turn the lights on! The Spirit of God brings illumination to your heart concerning the plan and purpose of God for your life.

These are dark days and you can see the storm coming on the horizon. The signs of Jesus second coming are in front of us, the nations are about to enter the Tribulation Hour Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24. If we are truly wise then we will redeem the time by yeilding to the Spirit of prayer and allow the Holy Spirit to work through us and fulfill the plan of God. What is His plan? Harvest is His plan, the building up of His body, the church!

It is very easy to be a shining light to the dark and negative world around you, just keep yourself filled with the Spirit through prayer. You can become inebriated with the Spirit through praise, worship, and spiritual songs. A great place I like to start is reciting the Psalms, sometimes I sing them to myself, but also singing in other tongues. The longer I sing to myself the more concious I become of God’s presence. My soul becomes inebriated with God’s joy and peace, now I am ready to face my day. You can download “My Favorite Psalms” on my blogsite and practice the presence of God. Keep yourself full, Let your light shine to your world.
