We sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith… …and complete what is lacking in your faith. (1 Thessalonians 3:2,10 NKJV)
Test and trials are designed to rob your faith, not build your faith. Faith is built by hearing the Word. Tests simply give you the opportunity to be patient and to prove God’s Word to be true. When you do find yourself in a test it is always refreshing to have a Timothy that will encourage you to finish what you started. Everyone needs a cheerleader like a Timothy who will help us stay in faith and not cave in to pressure.
Are you a Timothy to someone? If you see someone needing encouragement in their faith will you take time to encourage them? Paul said this about his spiritual son Timothy, “I have no man who will naturally care for your well being”. In other words, Timothys are a rare breed. Become like Timothy and encourage others when they are in the heat of the test. We all need a Timothy to help us finish strong.
