Purity

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor. (1 Thessalonians 4:3, 4 NKJV)

Our bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit to dwell in and operate through. The Holy Spirit anoints us to be a witness for Christ. Sexual immorality will enslave you, rob you of your anointing and destroy your witness for Christ. Paul warned of the dangers of such behavior and so do the scriptures. The stories of Samson, King David, and King Solomon, men of great influence, who fell to sexual temptation remind us of the pain and tragedy that sexual sin brings.

However, you can keep the door shut whether married or single by keeping yourself spiritually strong. Simple daily habits like filling your heart with God’s Word and praying in the Holy Spirit empowers you to resist temptation. In addition, establish boundaries with the opposite sex and show respect and honor. Finally, hold yourself accountable to your spouse if married, or a good friend who is strong in the Word.

Remember, there is no temptation that can knock you out of your race. God is faithful and will enable you to overcome any temptation that comes your way so you can finish strong with a solid witness for Christ.
