Abundant Favor

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth…  And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.—John 1:1,14,16-17 KJV

The beautiful thing about the Gospel is when you fully understand and appreciate what Christ has done it seems almost to good to be true! God manifested Himself as a man to taste the human experience, overcome sin as a man, and then pay the penalty for man’s sin then bring us into a position with God as if we have never sinned.  There is nothing the Father would not do for His Son! He is highly favored, but wait a minute, so are we if we believe in Jesus! We are highly favored as sons of God (ladies that includes you, there is no gender distinction in the Kindom of God)!

Look again at verse 16, “of Christ’s fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.” The phrase ‘grace for grace’ is better translated in the Amplified bible as,

‘grace upon grace, favor upon favor, blessing upon blessing, gift heaped upon gift.’

In other words, God’s grace is inexhaustible! How do we define His grace that has been poured out upon our lives? It is simply this—unmerited favor!  We are highly favored by the Father because of the work of His Son on the cross!  That means everything God has is ours, all of Heaven’s resources, all of His ability that He gives to us through the Holy Spirit, everything! God holds nothing back from us! That is what it means to be highly favored.

We need to recognize like the Apostle Paul did when he went through the most difficult times of his ministry that God’s grace is sufficient for us!  His Name, His Word, and His Spirit are our present possession! We can pray and Heaven moves on our behalf, we can speak the Word (God’s promises) and mountains must move, we can stand in the evil day and the Spirit of God will strengthen and carry us through to victory! Recognize no matter what you face your Father is in your corner, you are Highly favored because of Jesus!
