Secrets of the Kingdom

To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables.—Mark 4:11

There are over 50 parables recorded in the Gospels. Jesus taught the multitudes in parables to illustrate the mystery of the coming Kingdom. If you were to categorize them you can break them into two parts. Those that deal with the preaching of the Gospel to the Nations and those that deal with the Nation of Israel. Jesus was illustrating prophetically what would ensue after the close of His ministry. The parables predict a great harvest of souls from the preaching of the Gospel. The parables predict the scattering and regathering of the nation of Israel in preparation for the second coming of Christ. The parables reveal key truths to operating in the kingdom of God during the church age, the age of Grace.

The parable of all parables is one you are probably familiar with, it is the parable of the sower. Jesus is the sower who sowed the Gospel into the earth producing a harvest of 30, 60, and a100-fold return. The disciples had a hard time understanding what Jesus was talking about. Jesus said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?” So the parable of the sower is a key parable, isn’t it! Again Jesus said, “Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lamp stand? For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”

So Jesus parables are illustrations of kingdom secrets that can only be understood when a persons heart is open to The Lord. Understanding the parables our Lord gave will unlock the secrets to success in his kingdom. So let’s draw a success principle from this parable of the sower. The secret to you experiencing a harvest of the abundant life that Jesus promised is first by sowing His Word into your heart. Second it’s by guarding your heart from the cares and lusts of other things and letting the Word of God germinate in your heart by faith. So, learn to be a good farmer over your own garden, that is your heart. Speak God’s promises over your life and make sure your heart is full of faith and you will experience abundant living!
