Your well being!

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.—3 John 1:2-4

This scripture reveals the heart of our Heavenly Father when it comes to our well being. It was in the heart of the Apostle John as well who was closest to Jesus of the twelve disciples. His epistle 1 John 1-5 reveals God as light, God as life, and God as love! I think he knew the heart of God don’t you? God delights in us prospering not just spiritually but materially, financially, socially, physically and in any arena that touches the human experience. God covers it all!

But don’t stop at verse 2 because verse 3 and 4 reveals two keys to your prosperity. First, you must prosper in your soul—at is your thinking, your choosing and your emotions. When you fill your hear with truth—the Word of God (especially New Testament truth) you will begin to walk in God’s wisdom. You will think the way God thinks, you will make decisions in line with His will, and your emotions will be anchored in His peace and supernatural joy! You have to prosper in your soul first, that is God’s wisdom takes root in your soul. God’s favor does not work until his wisdom is operating in your soul.

There is a second key to prosperity and that is relationship. The Apostle John writes to his spiritual children. That is a clue. If you want to prosper God’s way you need to have godly people in your life that will disciple you, coach you, mentor you! Being teachable and learning from godly men and women is of great value. God placed in his church ministry gifts and one of the most influential gift in your life is your pastor. Submitting to a pastor who is faithful to teach and preach the whole counsel of God’s Word will help you prosper! That requires humility on your part. Are you teachable? Are you submitted? Is the truth of God’s Word your final authority? Is yes, then you can expect to have a prosperous and healthy future!
