Growing in love #yearintheword

Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.—1 John 4:17-19

The Apostle Paul prayed that believers would discover the length, depth, height and breadth of the Father’s love for us. God’s love for you is described by the Psalmist as unfailing love and love that endures for generations. When you learn to trust God with your life especially in the hard times your understanding of His love grows and your conviction of His love for you deepens. I am always comforted by His love when I pray. When you step into His presence you step into the realm of Divine love. It’s a place where impossibilities are made possible. It’s a place where you become bold and fearless because you know God will see you through.

Perfect love is matured love or love developed. Just as a married couple grow in intimacy and are true to each other through the seasons of life their bond deepens and their relationship is very secure. It’s important for us to become intimate with the Father. That comes as a result of daily and consistent fellowship with His Word, especially the revelation of the New Testament. Jesus prayed this for us in John 17, that we would be one in the Father and God would be one in us. Believers who are intimate with the Father are free from fear and anxiety because God’s love repels fear just like light repels darkness.

One tactic the enemy uses to rob Christians of intimacy is offenses and un-forgiveness. We simply cannot afford to walk in un-forgiveness because bitterness, anger, depression and a host of other attitudes will take hold of your heart and could even make you sick. No, no, no! I for one am not going down that road! I choose the way of love! I choose to walk care free! I am secure in His love so I can freely forgive anyone who does me wrong, so can you! Let God’s love be perfected in your life it will make you a bold and fearless Christian!
