Mercy! #yearintheword

But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.—Titus 3:4-5

Every thing we receive from God is a mercy. The forgiveness of sins, healing for our body, comfort in the times of trial, provision for our families. It’s all based on His mercy towards us and not our spiritual performance. Our place is simply to be persuaded by his love and believe with childlike faith and we receive mercies!

The phrase “washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” can be defined as the following. Washing means baptism or immersion. Regeneration means rebirth. Renewing means renovation. So this phrase is saying that when we accepted Christ we were baptized, immersed, or placed into His body the church. When that happened the Holy Spirit took up residence in our Spirit man causing us to be reborn. Not only that, He renovated us from the inside out creating new desires to pray, to seek God, feed on his Word, and fellowship with other believers.

I am thankful for God’s love and kindness toward me how about you! His mercies are new every morning and we have a right as his dear children to walk in them everyday!
