Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.—Colossians 4:5-6
Always be ready to share the Gospel story. The many lives you intersect every day brings opportunity to share God’s love. You never know what is going on in people’s hearts. Yet the Holy Spirit does and He is moving in the earth today convicting people of their need for Jesus! We need to be available to take the witness stand and our testimony needs to be backed up with integrity otherwise our words carry no clout.
Consider the first martyr Stephen who testified of Jesus with such wisdom that the religious leaders could not refute. His speech was seasoned with salt. You know how salt brings out the flavor of foods. Saltiness in your testimony will bring out the flavor of God’s love and power for that person you are sharing the Gospel with. Your saltiness is a result of being full of the Word and full of the Spirit.
Remember what Jesus said when that opportunity comes your way to testify, “settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist” (Luke 21:14-15). Expect opportunities every day that you will cross someone’s path that needs to hear the Gospel story! Just say, “Lord make me a blessing to someone who needs you today!”
