Eternity minded #yearintheword

For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.—2 Corinthians 5:1,5,9-10

It seems as I get older life moves faster, is that your experience? Ever since I came to Christ back in April of 1980 I have always thought about eternity. One of the first messages I heard preached was on the Judgment Seat of Christ by Dr. Jack Van Impe. That created in me such a desire to please God and do His will and be ready for the soon return of Jesus.

Eternity is going to be just as real as your life is now. You will have a new glorified flesh and bone body capable of operating in two dimensions—the spiritual and the natural. Our future residence will be on planet earth. People are surprised when I tell them that because they have an image of just being up in a heavenly paradise but that is not what the scripture teaches.

When Jesus returns for the church and we are translated to heaven the first event we will experience will be the judgment seat. This is where Christ examines our works and determines what kind of reward we will receive. So make sure you are growing spiritually, accomplishing His will and sharing the Gospel with your generation. Make sure your life counts for eternity because time is short and moving quickly. Be eternity minded!
