Receiving Divine Healing

Here are accounts of healings in the lives of individuals and three important truths to learn on how to receive healing.

Truth 1: It is God’s will for you to be healed, whole and well!

The cleansing of the Leper.

Jesus heals the incurable disease of the day—leprosy. The leper is a picture of the sinner who needs cleansing from sin and healing from disease. Here is the big question many people have. Is it God’s will to heal the sick? Jesus emphatically answered YES with a personal touch!

[2] And then a leper came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” [3] Jesus reached out His hand and touched him, saying, “I will. Be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. —Matthew 8:2-3 MEV

Truth 2: You have been totally forgiven of sin—past, present, and future.

The Paralytic man healed

Jesus healed a man who was paralyzed. Jesus first addressed the issue of condemnation and unworthiness that the man must have been dealing with in his heart. Jesus encouraged the man that his sins were forgiven, that there was nothing standing in the way of his receiving his healing. Receiving forgiveness is necessary to receive healing. Condemnation paralyzes your faith to receive.

[2] They brought to Him a man sick with paralysis, lying on a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer. Your sins are forgiven you.” [6] But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”-then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, pick up your bed, and go into your house.” —Matthew 9:2,6 MEV

Truth 3: Healing is received by faith!

Faith appropriates the promises of God. Faith taps into God’s ressurection power by believing, speaking, and acting upon the Word. In each of the following healings, Jesus addresses the importance of exercising faith in His Word. So it is absolutely necessary for you to build your faith in God’s healing promises in order for you to receive God’s healing power! Here are four examples of people receiving healing according to their faith.

The faith of the Roman Centurion

[5] And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, entreating Him, [6] and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home, sick with paralysis, terribly tormented.” [7] Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” [8] The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But speak the word only, and my servant will be healed. [9] For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this man, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” [10] When Jesus heard it, He was amazed and said to those who followed, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel. —Matthew 8:5-10 MEV

The faith of a woman with the issue of blood.

[20] Then a woman (she heard about Jesus), who was ill with a flow of blood for twelve years, came behind Him and touched the hem of His garment. [21] For she said within herself, “If I may just touch His garment, I shall be healed.” [22] But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her, He said, “Daughter, be of good comfort. Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well instantly. —Matthew 9:20-22 MEV

The faith of two blind men.

[27] As Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” [28] When He entered the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” [29] Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith, let it be done for you.” —Matthew 9:27-29 MEV

The faith of a Canaanite Women

[22] There, a woman of Canaan came out of the same regions and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David. My daughter is severely possessed by a demon.” [23] But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and begged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.” [24] But He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” [25] Then she came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, help me.” [26] But He answered, “It is not fair to take the children’s bread and to throw it to dogs.” [27] She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” [28] Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith. Let it be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly. —Matthew 15:22-28 MEV

Build your faith for healing

These examples of people exercising their faith to receive healing from the Lord should encourage us to build our faith so that we too can receive His healing power into our bodies. Here are more scriptures on the importance of your faith…

Faith brings our hopes into reality

[1] Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality-faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. —Hebrews 11:1 AMP

God requires faith.

[6] And without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. —Hebrews 11:6 MEV

Faith comes by constantly hearing God’s promises.

[17] So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. —Romans 10:17 MEV

Faith makes a confession from the heart.

[10] for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. —Romans 10:10 MEV

[13] We have the same spirit of faith. As it is written, “I believed, and therefore I have spoken.” So we also believe and therefore speak, —2 Corinthians 4:13 MEV

Faith speaks to the problem.

[22] Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. [23] For truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says. [24] Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you will have them. —Mark 11:22-24 MEV

Faith gives praise to God. (Abraham’s example of faith.)

[16] Therefore, [inheriting] the promise depends entirely on faith [that is, confident trust in the unseen God], in order that it may be given as an act of grace [His unmerited favor and mercy], so that the promise will be [legally] guaranteed to all… —Romans 4:16

[18] In hope against hope (ie against all odds, when it looked hopeless) Abraham believed that he would become a father of many nations, as he had been promised [by God]: “SO SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS BE.” [19] Without becoming weak in faith he considered his own body, now as good as dead [for producing children] since he was about a hundred years old, and [he considered] the deadness of Sarah’s womb. [20] But he did not doubt or waver in unbelief concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and empowered by faith, giving glory to God, [21] being fully convinced that God had the power to do what He had promised. —Romans 4:18-21 AMP
