Intimacy

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.—John 15:4-8

The secret to intimacy with God is abiding in Jesus and His Words abiding in us. We abide in Jesus because of a new birth accomplished by the Holy Spirit. The onus is on us to cultivate intimacy with the Father by letting the Words of our Savior dwell in our hearts. The only way we can become acquainted with the Father is through Jesus’ Word. Our Lord Jesus sent us love letters through the ministry of the Apostle Paul. It reveals how the Father sees us! Feeding on those “love letters” will draw us closer to Him.

Intimacy with the Father begins when we recognize our absolute dependance upon God. The most profound revelation you could receive about your life in Christ is this—”without Him I can accomplish nothing for the Kingdom of God.” That is the starting point. The key to intimacy is His Word abiding in your heart. To abide simply means to stay in a given place and remain. Your soul is to be a treasure chest of revelation—the Father’s love for you! That revelation causes us to draw close to the Father and believe Him to fulfill the good promises He has secured for us the death and resurrection of His Son.

Intimacy! His presence, power and provison can be a daily reality for you when you draw close to Him. Sit at His feet, feed on His Word, become intimate with Him and you will see your prayers answered! This is how Our Father gets glory in our lives—when become intimate with Him!
