Don’t be in the dark #yearintheword

Concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.—1 Thessalonians 5:1-4

The times and seasons referred to here are the appointments God has set on His calendar. The feasts of The Lord outlined in Leviticus 23 is a list of appointments God made with the Jewish people. Where are we today? We are approaching the Fall feast of Tabernacles. Tabernacles is a type and shadow of something good to come, in a nutshell it foreshadow’s the Kingdom of God on the earth.

Just prior to Jesus coming to fulfill this feast prophetically there is a time of trouble coming upon the earth. Jeremiah called it the time of Jacob’s trouble where all nations gather against the state of Israel. Israel was reborn as a nation in 1948 a major sign concerning to the second coming of Christ. As believers we should not be in the dark concerning these things. We should be ready for Jesus appearing!

We are to live in light of His soon return by being spiritually alert and sober! We do that by putting on something. Notice what the Apostle Paul admonishes us to do…

But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.—1 Thessalonians 5:8-9

Here is your daily check list to living alert and sober, choose to live by faith, to walk in love, and to expect that Jesus could come today! Don’t be in the dark!
