We sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith, that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this.—1 Thessalonians 3:2-3
The believers in Thessalonica were experiencing a great outpouring of the Spirit and persecution as well. Paul the Apostle was concerned for them so He sent His spiritual son Timothy to encourage them. Timothy was a God-send! He encouraged the church to press forward and fulfill their destiny. We all have a destiny to fulfill! We all have an adversary that wants to stop us from fulfilling that destiny.
We need more Timothy’s in the body of Christ who are strong in Jesus and are always looking out for their spiritual brothers and sisters. If you have ever had someone cross your path with a timely word of encouragement while you were in the heat of a battle you know how refreshing that is. It’s fresh wind in your sails! It’s motivation to get back up and not quit!
You never know when God may use you to encourage others when they might be on the verge of throwing in the towel and quitting. As a Pastor I have been at that intersection many times with people. It’s amazing the words of encouragement the Holy Spirit gives you when you simply let compassion for people move you. Be a God send to someone in your life today! You could be the one to help someone fulfill their destiny!
